After Years of Trying, Guess Which Treatment Finally Worked for My PCOS!

My name is Emily, and my journey to motherhood has been a testament to resilience, hope, and the marvels of modern medicine. Diagnosed with PCOS when I was just a teenager, I always had a sense that starting a family might be a challenge for me. As a nurse practitioner, I had the medical knowledge, but nothing could have prepared me for the emotional toll of infertility.

My husband, Jake, and I began our pursuit of a family with optimism. We spent two years trying to conceive naturally, each month hoping for a positive outcome. When this didn’t happen, we sought the expertise of a fertility specialist in Texas, where our journey took a more clinical turn with timed intercourse and ovulation-inducing medication.

Despite our commitment and five determined attempts, we were met with disappointment. Not ones to give up easily, we moved to Spokane and continued our quest. But after more unsuccessful tries, Jake and I faced a pivotal decision. In August 2019, we decided to forego IUI and embrace the path of IVF.

IVF was a journey of its own – a daily routine of painful injections, a barrage of blood tests, and side effects ranging from bloating to severe headaches. It was a challenging period, but our desire to start a family fueled our perseverance.

Our efforts culminated in the creation of six precious frozen embryos. In early October, we transferred the first one, clinging to the hope that this would be our answer. The waiting period that followed was an emotional rollercoaster, filled with anxiety and hope.

Then came the life-changing news – I was pregnant. The joy and relief that washed over us were indescribable. After years of uncertainty and trials, our dream was finally becoming a reality.

This journey has been more than just a medical endeavour; it’s been a journey of personal growth and emotional resilience. It’s a story that I hope will inspire and give hope to women who are navigating similar paths. Remember, every journey is unique, filled with its challenges and triumphs. As I eagerly await the arrival of our baby, I am filled with gratitude for the strength and hope that this journey has instilled in us.
